Third Radda Rise International Piano Competition
16-old-pianist Lucie Kim has impressed audiences and judges all over the world with her virtuosity and expressivity. For the past nine years, she has been honing her craft under the tutelage of private teacher Ariel Yang. Currently, Lucie is a student at Orange County School of the Arts and Opus 119 The School of Music. Throughout her time at these institutions, she has consistently proven herself to be a talented and accomplished pianist, earning numerous awards and prizes in various competitions.
Since she started competing in 2015, Lucie has been awarded top prizes in over 30 local and international competitions. Some of her many 1st Prize awards in 2022 were won at competitions such as the Bay Area Piano Competition, Bellagrande International Music Competition, Orange County School of Arts Concerto Competition, Piano Star International Piano Competition, Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, Southern California Philharmonic Young Artist Concerto Competition, and many others. Furthermore, Lucie has had the honor of participating in masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Stanislav Ioudenitch, William Grant Naboré, Dang Thai Son, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, George Li, Robert Shannon, Bernadene Blaha, Angela Cheng, Alvin Chow, Haewon Song, and Dmitry Rachmanov.
Lucie has graced the stages of notable venues such as the Warner Concert Hall as part of the Oberlin Festival Recital, the Pacific Club in Newport Beach where she held a full solo recital, the Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum as well as the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert as a featured soloist, and the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana for the CHOC Children’s Charley Awards. As part of the American Liszt Society Festival, Lucie performed in the “Outstanding Young Pianists Recital” at Arizona State University, and she was also featured in the Ted Talk, “Music Begins with a New Breath.” In 2019, she was featured on NBC Palm Springs News Segment and was a featured artist on the Waring International Piano Competition Weekly Spotlight.
In addition to being a soloist, she is an avid chamber musician. She’s a member of Junior Chamber Music of Orange County, and she’s a debut artist of the program.
Aside from music, Lucie enjoys playing golf and is a member of the Southern California PGA Junior Player’s Tour. Additionally, she was invited to be an Artist Partner with Melodic Caring Project, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to support and encourage patients battling illness around the world. In 2019, Lucie received a special Congressional Recognition Award for her philanthropic and artistic endeavors.
