Mrs. Kara Hanson, mezzo-soprano received her Bachelors Degree in music with a minor in music theory from the University of North Texas, where she received 7 scholarships for her musical ability. As a performer, Mrs. Hanson has graced the stages in Asia numerous times and across the United States. A professional choral singer, she has performed for multiple American Choral Directors Association conferences and Texas Music Educators Association conferences.
In 2008, Mrs. Hanson founded “Neat Beats,” a non-profit after school children’s music program in Dallas, Texas, and served as the director until 2010. Later that year, Mrs. Hanson began teaching at the Music Institute of North Texas, in Frisco, Texas. The following year, Ms. Kara was hired as Director of Music at Starwood Montessori, and her choirs flourished. In 2014, she joined the voice faculty at the premier music school Lone Star Music Academy in Flower Mound, Texas. She is certified in the globally successful, early childhood learning program, Harmony Road. Her energy and personality is ideal for young students, as early as age 3, or “itty bitties” as she affectionately calls them. Mrs. Hanson decided to advance with technology and launched an online voice and piano studio in addition to her private studio. Mrs. Kara’s students have been admitted to Berklee College of Music and the University of North Texas College of Music, made the Texas All-State Choir, ranked in the top 5 percent in the state in the Carnegie Hall Royal Conservatory Achievement Program, received numerous ones in State UIL Solo and Ensemble in Austin, Texas, and performed in hundreds of recitals, musicals, and talent shows throughout her decade of teaching. Mrs. Hanson has regularly kept a face-to-face studio exceeding 60 students per week with a wait list.
Kara became interested in venturing out in music business and is currently an active board member and consultant for the digital publishing company, DPI, in Dallas, Texas. When she is not active in her entrepreneurial pursuits, she enjoys digitally teaching select talent out of her Austin studio. She is currently a commercial voice-over actor, singer, and stage presence coach. She almost exclusively coaches high school-aged students and above but welcomes players and singers of all ages and levels. Her multicultural family gives her a unique global perspective that can be experienced in her innovative teaching methodologies. A believer in life long learning, Mrs. Hanson stays active in the voice teacher community through constant continuing education.
