Sonny Rios, spinto tenor, is a graduate of The University of North Texas School of Music, where he studied with the renowned Metropolitan Opera tenor, Eugene Conley, and the renowned interpreter of Comic Opera baritone, Edward Baird.

Ríos has traveled extensively as a concert artist, singing across the USA, including Alaska and Puerto Rico, Canada, and at least twenty-five countries in Europe, Central- and South America. And for the past 40 years, he has been involved in vocal pedagogy as well.

Ríos's expertise in teaching vocal production is constantly being sought by recording studios and talent agents seeking vocal help for their clients.  Thus, we find students coming from all over the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, the state of Texas, and surrounding states, and as far away as New York, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Colorado Springs, and the likes, to study with Mr. Ríos.

Sonny Ríos's students compose a wide variety of musical tastes and styles: Contemporary popular music, Country & Western, rock-n-roll, hip-hop, Tejano, Mariachi, musical theatre, sacred, gospel, contemporary Christian, jazz, soul, rhythm-n-blues, classical recital, oratorio, and opera.

Some of these students have gone on to sing across the USA and abroad. Some are singing or have sung in Las Vegas, Branson, Nashville, Dallas Summer Musicals, Broadway, Dallas Opera, Fort Worth Opera, Houston Opera, The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Irving Symphony, Six Flags Over Texas, Casa Mañana of Fort Worth, The Artisan Theater in Hurst, TX, Garland Musicals, American Entertainment Productions, Grapevine Opry, Garland Opry, Mesquite Opry, Wiley Opry, The Johnny Highs Show, The Jimmy Jones Family Show, Antone's in Austin, TX, on cruise ships, and etc.

Others are amateur singers such as secretaries, school teachers, church choir members, students of all ages, who are in demand in their churches, civic clubs, schools, and other organizations.

Others have won talent competitions at the state and national levels. Sonny's students have won the top awards in the state of Texas music camps, both University Interscholastic League (UIL) and Texas Association of Private Schools (TAPS).. 

Ríos has also served on the panel of judges for vocal competitions and talent searches sponsored by radio stations, such as KISS-FM’s search for its Boy-Band, and La Voz Kids (sponsored by The Voice). He has served as a judge to select the incoming voice students at Booker T. Washington Arts Magnate in Dallas, TX.  He has also been a judge for The Miss Teen Dallas/Fort Worth pageant and The International Miss pageant. Sonny also served as a judge for The Dallas Summer Musicals High School Musical Theater Awards the last seven years.
