2022 Radda Rise International String Competition
Lacey Seeley was born in 2015 and started playing violin at the age of 2 years old under the instruction of Mayu Greenhalgh in Houston, Texas. When Lacey moved to Utah with her family at the start of 2021, she began studying with her current teacher, Asheley Watabe. In addition to her private lessons, she has participated in various masterclasses and supplementary lessons led by acclaimed violinists such as Will Hagen, Gerald Elias, Elizabeth Faidley, and Amy Beth Horman.
As a soloist, Lacey’s performances have been recognized in many national and international competitions. Some of her recent prizes include 1st Prize of the Elementary Division in the 2021 East Coast International Competition; 2nd Prize of the State Level Category I Division (2022) and 3rd Prize of the National Level Primary Category Division (2021) in the Opus Competition; and 1st Prize of the Young Musicians Category in the 2022 American Protégé Competition. As a result of her performance in the latter competition, she has been invited to play in the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall in New York City in May 2023. Lacey also performed as a soloist at the Assembly Hall in Salt Lake City, Utah in December 2021, and she recently went on a tour to France and Spain where she performed with the Sotto Voce Strings group in La Sagrada Familia Cathedral and several other venues.
