Jeremy Jahng, a 17-year-old high school student hailing from Great Neck, New York, has established himself as a prodigious violist after winning 1st Prize in the Junior Division of the 2021 American Viola Society Festival Competition. At the age of 10, Jeremy embarked on his musical journey, delving into both piano and viola. His passion and dedication soon led him to be accepted into the esteemed Juilliard Pre-college program at the age of 12, where he has been honing his craft since September 2019, focusing primarily on the viola under the tutelage of Sophie Arbuckle.
Jeremy's recent noteworthy performance was J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto alongside the Grammy-winning Richard O'Neill in 2022 in New York. In 2020, he was invited as a soloist to grace the stage of a New York Classical Player orchestra concert, leaving audiences enthralled with his virtuosity. Jeremy has also captivated audiences with his solo performances at esteemed venues such as the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in 2019. Furthermore, he has made significant contributions as a violist in the Juilliard Pre-College String Ensemble, even assuming the role of co-principal violist in 2019.
Recognized for his exceptional talent, Jeremy received a full scholarship invitation to the esteemed Morningside Music Bridge summer program in 2023. Alongside his achievement at the American Viola Society Festival Competition, he has garnered numerous prestigious awards including Grand Prize nominee/1st Prize at the 2022 New York Classical Music Competition, Grand Prize at the 2021 New York Laureate International Music Competition, and 1st Prize at the 2021 New York Virtuoso International Competition. Throughout 2019, he claimed the 1st Prize at National Artist Competition, 1st Prize at the New York International Music Competition, and 1st Prize at the Manhattan International Music Competition.
