Grigory Filipchenko

Grigory Filipchenko, born in Moscow in 1998, began his journey with the cello at the tender age of five. He honed his skills at the prestigious Gnessin Special Music School under the guidance of Lyudmila Kruzhkova. Later, he graduated with distinction from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where he studied under the renowned Professors Natalia Shakhovskaya, Boris Andrianov, and Vladimir Balshin. Currently, Grigory is pursuing advanced studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Professor Enrico Bronzi and chamber music with Professor Pavel Gililov.

In 2015, Grigory received the top prize in the "Strings 2015" competition and was invited by the Branimir Slokar Academy in Slovenia to participate in masterclasses and perform solo concerts with the Ljubljana Symphony Orchestra. He also served as a jury member for the "Cello-Bass" music festival in Moscow. Over the years, he has been awarded numerous scholarships, including those from the Vladimir Spivakov International Charitable Foundation, Denis Matsuev's "New Names" Foundation. In 2019 he received the Gazprom Bank Award.

Grigory has had the honor of performing as a soloist with many esteemed orchestras, such as the Symphony Orchestra of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, Real Filharmonía de Galicia, "Gnessins Virtuosi," and various Philharmonic Orchestras in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and beyond. He has been a featured artist at numerous international festivals, including Vladimir Spivakov's "Moscow Meets Friends," the "New Names" festival, "January Evenings," and "Virtuoso" in Moscow, the "Peregrinos Musicales" festival in Spain, the Winter International Festival of Arts in Sochi, the Classical Music Festival in Pula, Croatia, ”Accordi Musicaly” in Italy, and the "Festival Nights" in Vienna, Austria.

In addition to his solo career, Grigory is the Artistic Director of the Simple Music Ensemble in Austria, where he leads a range of innovative and dynamic musical projects. He has performed across the globe, with tours in Hong Kong, China, and Italy, and given solo recitals in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls.

Grigory has worked with a number of distinguished musicians, including Yuri Simonov, Felix Korobov, Boris Andrianov, Tatiana Grindenko, and Alexander Titov, Alim Shakh, Maximino Zumalve, David Braid. He has also participated in masterclasses with legendary cellists such as David Geringas, Wen-Sinn Yang, Jens Peter Maintz, Claudio Bohorquez, Martti Rousi and Stefan Popov.
