Andrew Cody Williams is currently the Director for the Bass and Cello Conservatory, whose goal is to educate and inspire young musicians in music. He received Honorable Mention in the University of North Texas Music Entrepreneurship Competition twice, most recently for his project to write a soundtrack and novel about the trials of a fictional kingdom throughout time. Additionally, Williams teaches privately in Denton and is a Music Teaching Fellow at University of North Texas.
Williams currently works with multiple orchestras in the North Texas area including the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orchestra of New Spain. He has placed in the finals of the Texas Christian University International Double Bass Orchestral Excerpts Competition. With invitation from his former teacher, Jose Carrion, Williams has enjoyed the opportunity to work and tour with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Cuenca, Ecuador to perform works from Wagner to orchestrated native music.
As a soloist, Williams has performed his own compositions in his recitals along with major bass works and cello suites. He was a winner of the UNT Concerto Competition with his performance of the Andres Martin Concerto for bass and will perform the piece with his own cadenza in February. Other competition prizes he has won include 3rd place in the South Carolina Division of the MTNA Solo Competition and was a soloist at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston.
Williams is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Double Bass Performance at the University of North Texas under the study of Jeff Bradetich and is a graduate of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities under Ian Bracchitta. In his free time, he enjoys reading and voicing characters from The Lord of The Rings and similar novels while on conference calls with his brother and friend.
